You’ve been working in the recruitment market a long time, what do you think is the biggest thing that’s changed in the last few years in the sector when you are trying to meet the needs of both your clients and candidates?

I’ve been working in Recruitment and Executive search for nearly 30 years.

The biggest changes for working with clients, is solving their REAL hiring problems.

It’s not just about filling vacancies from a job spec template any longer. In the past, recruiters were usually at the end of the hiring journey.

Recruitment must now position itself at the start of a company’s long-term hiring strategy and be better at solving their clients’ problems by creating extra value for them.

For candidates, it has never been easier for recruiters to find talented candidates, with all the social and digital platforms available to everyone.

The real driver now is “extracting and working with better in-depth and accurate knowledge” about the problem we are solving for our clients, which no platform can replicate.

The key is to attract and have better conversations with the right people on why they should consider a move from their current role and join your company.

If your interview process and internal story is not well thought out, then people are simply not going to want to work for you.
